National Council of People Living with HIV Tanzania (NACOPHA), conducted training on Gender-Based Violence (GBV) in collaboration with the Civil Social Protection Foundation for Women and Children Living with HIV, Treatment Advocate(TAs), empowerment groups and Local Government leaders from villages and wards in selected Councils for the support and oversight of TreatmentAdvocates by Government structures to address HIV related stigma and GBV incidents in their localities.
During training, the sessions were held in batches from 21st March to 3rd April 2022 to empower Women and Children Living with HIV, to access their rights by eliminating stigma and discrimination based on their status These trainings were conducted in other regions like including Singida, Manyara and Dodoma due to an increase in reported incidences e of gender-based violence against Women and Children Living with HIV, in those selected councils where 765 people (Female 469 and Male 296) participated.
Other members who participated in trainings were People Living with HIV (PLHIV) from 13 Clusters including Babati Town Council (TC), Simanjiro District Council (DC), Singida DC, Ikungi DC, Iramba DC, Mkalama DC, Manyoni DC, Dodoma City Council (CC), Kongwa City Council, Bahi DC, Kondoa TC, Kondoa DC, Chemba DC and Local Government leaders.
