NACOPHA Joins Women’s Day Celebration with a Clean-Up Drive in Mbeya

As we approach International Women’s Day, the Chairperson of the Platform of Women Living with HIV in Tanzania, Ms. Joselyn Mtono, alongside staff from NACOPHA’s Mbeya region office, participated in a clean-up exercise at the Mbalizi bus station on March 7, 2022. This initiative was conducted in collaboration with the Mbeya Regional Commissioner’s Office and is part of the preparations for the International Women’s Day celebrations, which will take place at Mbalizi Grounds, Tarafani in Mbeya, on March 8, 2022.

Embracing Community Service

This clean-up exercise underscores the commitment of NACOPHA and its partners to community service and environmental stewardship. By engaging in activities that promote cleanliness and health, NACOPHA demonstrates its dedication to the well-being of the communities it serves, especially in the context of supporting women living with HIV.

Highlighting Women’s Contributions

International Women’s Day is a global event that celebrates the achievements of women and raises awareness about gender equality. This year’s participation by NACOPHA in the clean-up activity highlights the significant contributions of women living with HIV in Tanzania, showcasing their active role in community development and public health initiatives.

Promoting Health and Hygiene

The clean-up drive at Mbalizi bus station not only helps maintain a clean and healthy environment but also sets a positive example for the local community. It encourages residents to take pride in their surroundings and to participate in efforts that improve public spaces.

Fostering Partnerships

This event was made possible through the collaborative efforts of NACOPHA, the Platform of Women Living with HIV, and the Mbeya Regional Commissioner’s Office. Such partnerships are crucial in amplifying the impact of community-based activities and in promoting a unified approach to addressing public health issues.

Looking Forward to the Celebrations

The clean-up exercise is just one of the many activities leading up to the International Women’s Day celebrations. The main event, scheduled for March 8, 2022, at Mbalizi Grounds, Tarafani, Mbeya, promises to be a vibrant occasion that honors the resilience, strength, and achievements of women, particularly those living with HIV.
