USAID Hebu Tuyajenge Project Changed Jane’s Life and Inspired Her Community

Jane is a member of the women’s empowerment group in her village and has been living with HIV for the past five years. She has faced many challenges in her life, including accessing proper sanitation facilities.

Before the USAID Hebu Tuyajenge project, Jane had to rely on her neighbor’s toilet and had to walk long distances to access water for her daily needs. This posed a significant risk to her health and safety, as she was always worried about contracting infections and illnesses from unsanitary facilities.

However, the USAID Hebu Tuyajenge project implemented by the National Council of People Living with HIV changed Jane’s life. Through the project’s economic activities, she was able to earn income and save some money. With the savings, she decided to build her own toilet and water tap at her home.

Since building her own toilet and water tap, Jane’s life has improved significantly. She no longer has to worry about using unsanitary facilities or walking long distances to access water. She is now able to focus on her health and well-being without the added stress of inadequate sanitation facilities.

“I am grateful for the USAID Hebu Tuyajenge project implemented by the National Council of People Living with HIV, which has empowered women like me to take control of our lives, improve our living conditions, and inspire others to do the same. I hope that other women living with HIV in my community can experience the same positive changes that I have, and I will continue to support and empower my fellow women in any way that I can.”

Moreover, Jane’s success story has inspired other women living with HIV in her community to take charge of their lives and improve their living conditions. With access to resources and support, women like Jane can overcome their challenges and create a better future for themselves and their families.
